Two years ago, Kevin Harvick was practically automatic when he and his team came to the racetrack, winning a total of nine times in 2020. Then winning stopped in 65 consecutive races and nearly two full years – until today, when it was 46 consecutive races. The one-year-old from Bakersfield, Calif., took advantage of a timely warning from the late race to lead him from the brink of elimination from the playoff to another opportunity to compete for a championship.

After a late-race warning during a round of green flag pit stops giving him the lead, Harvick walked away from the last green flag race to win the FireKeepers 400 Casino in Michigan by four seconds. The win was his first of the 2022 season and he finished a streak of 65 races without a win.

Harvick’s win is the 59th in his career in the Cup Series – but more importantly, it puts him on the qualifying grid with three races remaining after he entered Sunday as the first car below the qualifying cut-off streak.
