The right-handed went to 5.2 innings, allowing two hitters to gain two hits and hit 12 hitters.

DeGrom delivered his much-anticipated first season on Tuesday in a 5-1 road loss to the Washington Nationals. He has been out of the house for over a year with forearm and elbow problems and hence a stress reaction in his shoulder.
Despite his long hiatus, the two-time winner of Cy Young never missed a beat. Any fears that he might have lost some speed are unfounded.

Leaving some fans in New York frustrated last minute action Before the MLB trade deadline. General Manager Billy Ebbler chose marginal upgrades rather than any transformational deals, adding Mychal Givens, Tyler Naquin, Daniel Vogelbach and Darin Ruf.
Getting a healthy return is far more impactful than any of these acquisitions. They may now have the best starting bowler in baseball back in time for the extended run.

The 34-year-old will now get an active role in the Mets banner hunt.
