The rest of the victims are in stable condition, he added.

Hampton said police have made no arrests and are asking the public for information about the gunman.

“Maybe it was just a community event, where everyone got together. At the moment we don’t know of any connection between the six victims,” he told reporters in a statement.

The shooting took place at 7 p.m. at the Dunbar Recreation Center in Rosa L. Burnie Park, according to police.

“This is not a place to play with guns, so we are just asking everyone to leave guns at home,” Hampton said.

Sunday’s shooting follows several other gun-related episodes over the past week in Atlanta city parks, including what police believe to be a murder and suicide in… Meritz Street in Central Park The fatal shooting of a man in Wilson Mills Park.
