The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 have been leaked extensively over the past few months, before their official unveiling on August 10, but we now have something new in terms of pre-leaks: real photos of foldable phones.

Since we already have a lot of information about pleats, these pictures don’t actually tell us much what’s new. However, it’s interesting to see handy footage of the devices ahead of its unveiling on Wednesday of this week.

There are some minor design tweaks that can be noticed in the images, which make these phones a little different from their predecessors. As rumored, the screen wrinkles look smaller this time around, so Samsung’s credit goes to that.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 appears to have a smaller external hinge area compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 – another sign that manufacturers are getting better at making the complex components that go into these phones.
The big Samsung Unpacked event happening in a few days isn’t just about foldable phones, because we’ll probably get some smartwatches and wireless earbuds too. The event kicks off at 6AM PT / 9AM ET / 2PM GMT / 11PM EST on August 10.
Analysis: What we think we know so far
As mentioned above, these two phones have already been widely leaked. If these leaks are accurate, Samsung won’t surprise us too much on Wednesday when the next Unpacked event kicks off.
It looks as if the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will have a 7.6-inch main screen, the same size as the previous one. There has also been talk of an optical zoom upgrade for the rear camera module, while the phone will likely be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus chipset, and could come with up to 1TB of storage.
For the Galaxy Z Flip 4, the phone is expected to be slightly thicker than the foldable phone it’s replacing, although the screen apparently remains the same size at 6.7 inches. The hinge is said to be less heavy this time around, while rumors have it that better battery life could be one of the major improvements.
We’re not entirely sure about the prices of these phones, but we don’t expect them to be particularly affordable. We’ve also heard recently that they may be dropping the Z part of their name this year, which will at least make them easier to write and talk about.
