Ao Yang Lixing, 57, vice president of the National Zhongshan Institute of Science and Technology, was found dead in a hotel room in southern Pingtung county Saturday morning, the institute said in a statement.
Wang Qinzong, deputy director of the Pingtung County Police Department, said that when the police arrived at the scene, they determined that he had had a heart attack.
He added that there were no indications of fraud.
“After examining the surveillance video footage and scanning the hotel room, the police found that the windows were closed and did not see any signs of break-ins or fights, and we found no wounds on Oui Yang’s body,” Wang said.
Ou Yang’s family said he had a history of heart disease and had a heart stent.
Ou Yang, who has overseen the development of different types of rockets, took over his role at the institute earlier this year.
