Scotland’s Neh Evans won the Commonwealth Games silver at the end of the race in the women’s road race with Australia’s Georgia Baker taking the gold.

Evans, who won a silver medal in the track bike points race last Sunday, took a solid pole position but it was no match for Becker, who claimed her third gold medal at the Games.

Australian Sarah Roy won the bronze as her team dominated the race the entire time.

Baker’s win adds to her victories in the team quest and points race.

On a seven-lap circuit through the streets of Warwick Wells, Eluned King finished eighth with England’s Alice Barnes in tenth.

Australia boosted its road cycling success with Grace Brown winning the gold in the women’s time test.

Brown was part of the six-man Australia team and was rarely far from the front, chasing splits and securing a finish in 112km.

The men’s road race along the 160-kilometre track takes place from 12:30 GMT on Sunday with legendary Isle of Man sprinter Mark Cavendish taking on defending champion Geraint Thomas of Wales.
