An Egyptian-brokered ceasefire began Sunday evening at 11:30 p.m. local time between Israel and the Iran-backed terrorist militia known as Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) after two days of fighting in which Israel had the upper hand.

PIJ fired hundreds of rockets into Israel — including the major cities of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv — and none resulted in direct casualties, thanks to Israel’s Iron Dome system, which shot down rockets targeting the country’s population centers.

One of the rockets of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad fell on a house in the Israeli town of Sderot, but the family was too accommodation Inside the “safe room” of their house.

Iron Dome receives some funding from the United States, which acquired the system from Israel. Some pro-Israel supporters note that many members of Congress voted against the new Iron Dome funding after last year’s war between Israel and Palestinian terrorists.

Some of the Islamic Jihad’s rockets in Palestine have killed and wounded Palestinian civilians.

Meanwhile, Israel eliminated much of the PIJ’s command structure and eliminated large parts of its weapons caches, while also attacking observation points and underground tunnels.

The last moments before the ceasefire, The Times of Israel mentionedEach side launched a few final attacks.

Experts are still puzzled about PIJ’s eagerness to confront Israel now, without the participation of Hamas, the terrorist group that controls the Gaza Strip and that allows PIJ to operate. The unbalanced result will harm Iran’s image in the region.
