The senator removed the $35 insulin cap and Senate Democrats failed to reincorporate the measure into the Inflation Reduction Act.

Member of Parliament Rule That $35 insulin cap violates budget adjustment rules.

The Senate moved to overturn the ruling and include the clause in the bill. However, 57-43 failed, falling just three votes short of the number needed to overrule a Member of Parliament.

Senator Susan Collins (R-ME), Josh Hawley (R-Mis), Cindy Hyde Smith (R-MS), John F. Kennedy (R-LA), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) ), Dan Sullivan (Republican – AK), Been voted to overturn the Senator’s decision on the insulin cap.

Senator Ron Wyden (D-Oregon) and other Democratic senators criticized the Republicans for failing to reinstate the provision in the bill.

“Republicans just voted to impose a $35 per month cap on insulin for Americans who have private insurance off our bill. Republican pledges to cut insulin costs are all empty promises,” Wyden said.

Senator Patti Murray (D-WA) said on the Senate floor: “Republicans just voted against our $35 a month insulin cap for privately insured patients, forcing countless patients to continue rationing insulin — putting their lives at risk. “. “Everyone should be able to afford the life-saving medicines they need. This is a shame.”

Ironically, for Senate Democrats, this action would not be necessary if President Joe Biden did not suspend President Donald Trump’s executive order to lower the price of insulin and epinephrine. Trump’s executive order was due to go into effect after Biden moved to the White House.

Despite Democrats’ attacks on Trump’s health care agenda, the 45th president has also moved to cut red tape at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Notably, under Trump, overall prescription drug prices have fallen for the first time in half a century, Breitbart News’ Joel Pollack has documented.
