It’s a final between Australia and England in women’s pairs this morning with the hosts leading 7-2 after four finishes.
England’s Sophie Tollchard is looking to get a better one from her brother Sam, who lost in the men’s pairs final on Tuesday.
Tollchards are athletic kings. Apart from her brother, their grandfather Tommy represented England in tournaments, and their father Ray played in Wimbledon as a junior tennis player and refereed 40 first class cricket matches.
While uncles Roger and Jeff Tollchard, both playing first-class cricket for Leicestershire, Roger appeared in four Tests for England.
She and partner Amy Faroah already have Commonwealth gold medals – Sophie in triples in 2014 and Amy in pairs in 2010.
So did Australian Eileen Ryan, who won an unforgettable gold medal earlier this week. She plays alongside Kristina Krstic.
