On Friday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Inside Politics,” Senator John Hickenlooper (D-CO) responded to Senator Rick Scott’s claims (Republic-Florida) That Inflation Reduction Act Reconciliation Act is “Democrats using the inflation crisis” to justify “reckless government spending” by saying that the cost of not tackling the climate “by far, will far outweigh what we spend to have clean wind, clean energy, and clean air.” “

After hearing Scott’s criticism of Hickenlooper’s response, “I think Senator Scott needs only to look at the coasts of Florida at the devastation these more frequent and intense hurricanes have caused to Florida and all over the Gulf Coast and all over the world, wildfires. I’m concerned that we can’t call it a drought in The southwest anymore because it’s so prevalent and it seems to grow and last much longer than a traditional drought. This may be desertification, as some call it drying out. But we’d have less water, the cost of that, for not treating that, is the definition of the species for insane. The cost of not treating it now. Far, far, far, it will far outweigh what we spend to have clean winds, clean energy, and clean air.”
