Franmil Reyes

Cleveland Guardians They announced a series of list moves on their Twitter account on SaturdayMost notably, the appointment of defender Franmel Reyes to commission and the release of first baseman Bobby Bradley. The Guardians also replaced right-handed shooters, Hunter Gaddis’ option to Triple-A Columbus and the Jake Jewell contract purchase.

Reyes, 27, entered the season as a Cleveland clean-up hitter based on his track record of above-average offensive production. In over 400 games prior to this season, he scored .260/.325/.503 (121 OPS+) with 92 home points.

But Reyes hasn’t been able to go this season. He was selected for the Palace on Tuesday after hitting .213/.254/.350 (72 OPS+) with just nine home runs in 70 games. Reyes’ strike rates and walks took strides in the wrong direction, and he’s more likely to appear. He still hit the ball hard – his average exit speed is rated at the 93rd percentile – but that wasn’t enough to beat the aforementioned developments.

Presumably, the guards are looking at Reyes, who will make more than $4.5 million this season, as a non-tender candidate. They will now have a week to either put him in concessions or release him.

Bradley, 26, was one of the likely candidates thanks to his great raw power. Unfortunately, his strike-prone ways did not allow him to establish a foothold in major corporations. In 97 major league games, he scored an 86 OPS+ and made over 37 percent of his trips to the plate.

Since Reyes’ demotion, Guardians have used four different DH players, including Josh Naylor and Owen Miller, or both parts of the first base faction. Cleveland promoted potential player Tyler Freeman to Majors on Wednesday, suggesting there could be a rotation in mind as Freeman and the other players — Amed Rosario, Jose Ramirez and Andres Jimenez — take turns taking on the role of DH as a way to get them all. At bat and rest.

Saturday’s Guardians entered the season 54-52, bringing them two games back to the MLS Central race. The Guardians are also back in two-and-a-half games in the hunt for the AL wild card’s final spot.
