
Zagreb, Croatia (AFP) – A Poland-registered bus skidded off a highway in northern Croatia early Saturday morning, killing at least 11 people and injuring several others, police said.
“In the skidding of a bus with Polish registration plates, according to preliminary information from the field, 11 people died and several others were injured,” the Croatian police said on Twitter.
The accident occurred at 5:40 a.m. local time (3:40 a.m. GMT) 50 kilometers (30 miles) north of the Croatian capital Zagreb on the busy A-4 motorway during the peak tourist season.
Croatian media reported that rescue teams were dispatched to the scene. No other details were immediately available.
