There was another report on what the upcoming Apple Watch will look like. Over the past 18 months, there have been rumors, embraced by many trusted analysts, that an all-new Apple Watch design is coming, with flat bezels, a larger screen and a truly different look.
The problem is that this rumor was about the Apple Watch Series 7, and while the current watch has a subtly altered design, it wasn’t anywhere near what the leaks had us expecting.
While some analysts had a lot of eggs on their faces, one of them swarmed, Tweet embedaka ShrimpApplePro, claimed that the rumored designs were completely wrong.
Today, this leaker revealed what they think will come with the Apple Watch Series 8.
Although they tweeted in May that a new flat-front glass display was on the cards, they are now specific about the new design, saying, “Design: Unfortunately, it stayed the same on the 7 Series without any design improvement.”
That’s not to say there won’t be some change to the long-awaited Apple Watch Pro, which Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman claims will be a bigger device with an evolution in the current design.
But for the Series 8, the design won’t change, it seems. I like the Series 7’s design, so I’m not disappointed.
But ShrimpApplePro also has more information, such as colors.
In aluminum, the Series 8 will be available in four colors, Midnight, Starlight, PRODUCT (RED), and Silver. This is a big change from Series 7 which is available in Midnight, Starlight, PRODUCT (RED) and the somewhat attractive Blue and Green. But a lot of customers have complained about the lack of a neutral color like silver, even though Starlight is in my opinion the best new shade anyway. However, I’m a little surprised that Apple is going from five colors to four.
As for the stainless steel watch, we can’t expect any color change at all, with silver, graphite and gold as now. This is also the same colors as the Series 6, so again I’m cautious about what ShrimpApplePro says because it looks like there might be a nice change this time around.
Note that even when Apple sticks to the same colors, they always change slightly with each successive year, so gold stainless steel can be completely pale in one year, and completely yellow in the next.
Just like this year, there will be two sizes, measuring 41mm and 45mm – although the much-rumored Apple Watch Pro may be larger, ShrimpApplePro doesn’t comment on that. The Series 8 Watch will be compatible with previous Watch bands, something that Apple has prioritized over the years.
It is claimed that there will be no titanium Apple Watch version, although Mark Gurman claims that the Pro model may be titanium, this may be the reason.
It is claimed that the hoped-for temperature sensor may not be on board, as the source was unable to see any visual indication of new sensors. Although this does not mean that it does not exist, it is not visible.
Is there anything else?
Two small nuggets, actually. First, the box seal will have stronger glue, so once opened it’s hard to re-seal, which seems like a clever safety feature to me.
And secondly, it looks like the watch is on its way to release in September, with no delays. Hello.
With the next Apple special event expected to take place in the first half of September, there isn’t much time to wait.
