
Microsoft is working on a series of updates for Online Collaboration a program Teams that will expand some of the most useful features to a larger group of users.
A pair of new entries in the company’s product roadmap show that Microsoft Teams Users calling from the office soon will benefit from both end-to-end (E2EE) encryption for individual calls and the ability to join meetings via a passcode.
The former will allow Teams Rooms users to access the gold standard security level, making it impossible for third parties to eavesdrop on discussions. Meanwhile, the ability to use a meeting ID and passcode to join a session will remove the unnecessary hassle associated with having to formally reserve a meeting room for use in Video meeting.
Microsoft Teams for co-working
Since moving to Hybrid workWhere employees divide their time between home and the office, Microsoft has been vocal about the need to create a consistent meeting experience that spans all work locations.
For example, the company has taken a big step towards integrating PowerPoint and Teams, with the goal of ensuring that Offers As engaging and interactive for remote participants as it is for those in the room.
Separately, the company introduced new features – like Episode components Designed to support asynchronous collaboration, helping reduce the volume of meetings required to collaborate with remote colleagues.
The philosophy extends to different types of users, as well as different work locations. In April 2022, for example, Microsoft took steps to address the problem common problems Confront workers with Teams in the field Customer service calls.
With the latest round of updates, Microsoft is bridging the feature gap between users who run Teams from home or from their office via Business laptop and those who use conference room devices.
The new features are currently in development, but should be rolled out to users over the next few months. Full encryption of Teams Rooms calls is currently scheduled to go live sometime in August, with the new joining option set to continue by the end of October.
