Here are the highlights from Thursday’s match.
Jacksonville Jaguars vs Las Vegas Raiders
We are out!
After a short delay in the weather, things started in Canton.
Football fans got their first look at the newly minted Raiders on a large scale in silver and black Davante Adams.
The Raiders were first on the board with a field goal in their opening run, while running back Josh Jacobs helped his team undo the possession that followed. Jacobs, a former first-round pick entering his fourth season, was a surprise entrant amid the many other starters sitting in this season.
#1 for a reason
Travon Walker—the first overall pick in this year’s Jacksonville Draft—came with a huge sack on Raiders QB’s backup Jarrett Stidham. Las Vegas settled on a field goal on the road, leading 6-0.
The Raiders solidified their lead in the first round of the second quarter, thanks to a short distance from Amir Abdullah, a previous pick for the second round of 2015. Just like that, it was 13-0 early this year.
More of the same
Stedham was sacked three times but also showed he could pull off fast, rushing 12 yards late in the first half.
The Jaguars avoided closing by adding a field goal at the end of the third quarter, making it 20-3.
