Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) said Thursday on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360” that the United States cannot be considered a nation of laws if former President Donald Trump is not impeached.

CNN Senior National Affairs Analyst Cassie Hunt said, “Some have expressed concern that the impeachment of former President Trump that turned him into a martyr and may increase his political power to al-Qaeda that follows him so anxiously. Do you share that concern? Do you have any concern that Will the prosecution strengthen the political hand of Donald Trump?”

“I don’t think it’s appropriate to think of it that way because the question for us is, ‘Are we a nation of law? Are we a nation where nobody is above the law?’ And that brings out the facts and the evidence. Sure, you’ve been very clear, and I think he’s clearly guilty,” Cheney said. In the most derelict duty of any president in our nation’s history. A federal judge in California said that he and John Eastman likely committed two crimes. I believe we will continue to pursue the facts and that the Department of Justice will. They had to make decisions about prosecution, and understand what it means to have The facts and the evidence and they decided not to prosecute. How then do we call ourselves a nation of laws? I think it’s a very dangerous balance.”
