At least 13 people were killed and 35 others injured when a fire broke out in a nightclub in eastern Thailand’s Chonburi province early Friday morning, a police official said.
The cause of the fire is unknown. Police said all the victims have so far been identified as Thai citizens.

Wutipong Somjay, a supervisor at a local police station, told Reuters by phone that the fire at the Mountain Bee nightclub, about 180 kilometers southeast of the capital Bangkok, started around 1 a.m. local time. Workers put out the flames, looking at the burning buildings, shoes and bottles scattered on the ground.
Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha assured the families of the victims that they would receive assistance from the authorities and urged entertainment venues across the country to ensure proper emergency exits and safety measures.
