Novak Djokovic withdrew from the Canadian Open in Montreal on Thursday due to his COVID-19 vaccination status. Since Djokovic was not vaccinated, he was not allowed to enter Canada.

While Djokovic is forced to miss the tournament in Montreal, his US Open standings is also in jeopardy. That tournament is scheduled to start on August 29, and Djokovic may have to withdraw because the United States does not allow unvaccinated foreigners to enter the country.

Though, Djokovic hopes to be able to participate in the US Open. The Serbian recently posted on social media that he is preparing as if he is able to participate in this year’s final Grand Slam tournament.

“I am preparing as if I will be allowed to compete, while I wait to see if there is any place for me to fly to the United States,” Djokovic tweeted. “Fingers intertwined!”

Throughout his impressive tennis career, Djokovic has won the US Open on three different occasions. Last year, Djokovic reached the final round before losing to Daniil Medvedev.

Djokovic too Forced to withdraw from the Australian Open Earlier this year, but participated in the French Open and Wimbledon. Djokovic won Wimbledon and Cannes Knocked out by Rafael Nadal In the French Open quarter-finals.

Currently, world number 6, Djokovic has won Wimbledon and the Italian Open this year while setting a 23-5 aggregate record.
